Lighting for Flamingo-A-Go-Go, PROP's (People's Regional Opportunity Program) annual fundraiser. The following Roscolux filters were used to light the flamingo ice sculpture and food table; #336: Billington Pink & Roscolux #59: Indigo. Three instruments were used to create this effect. Two of the instruments had color filters while the third did not. Light Design by: Eric N. Sawyer/After Hours Productions

Not the best photo but R99 Chocolate was the choice of general wash for this show - love the warmth it gives without being "sunny" like straw. One of my favourite front light "wash" colours.

The FOH rig was very limited for this show, and lower than ideal so it became very "front light" which wasn't the original plan - the only front light colours were R99 and open white.

Emerson Stage presents Incorruptible. Semel Theater. Lighting design by Alex Wesley Brandt.
The show takes place in an old monastery in France. R09 was used for area light to create a candlelit feel, along with R01 in a downlight system. R321 was used to enhance the effect in more intimate moments.
The monastery is falling apart in Act 1, and R77642 (Triangles Small) was used to create an effect of lighting coming in through tattered rafters.

R27 - Medium Red R60 - No Color Blue In early meetings Chris [director] and I were thinking of a convention to give the sense of perpetual looming danger. Battle between God and the angels has been declared and the human people are merely collateral damage. The play is set in a fantastical land where the moon has gone away, and the milk has turned to salt. Needless to say the "rules" of this world set the stage for a very bold design. While sifting through my image bank for suitable research I came across this evocative image [Photo 1]. It was PERFECT.

Il Trovatore is a dark opera that takes place primarily in the evening-night hours. For this, we chose to light the scenes with different saturations and hues of blue through the arc of the show in order to evoke different times of the night. This called for a versatile selection of cool colors which I know Rosco can always provide for me. Colors used included R55, R360, R366, R73, and R74. Using one of these colors alone, or when layered with lighting from other direction and intensity, really provided me with the palette I had envisioned from the beginning.

Hello Rosco!

I used R09 at Walter Johnson High School's "Footloose" back in 2009 when I was the Co-Lighting Designer with my best friend. Since then I have continued to fall in love with theatre and moved on to study Lighting Design in college and participate with the summer program. Thank you Rosco for being a fantastic company!

The look for a "dawn" sequence called for a light to appear from under the stream of water while the women washed the clothes into the water. I needed something that was going to be white light but glow into yellows and golds during the scene. To make this work I used two MR-16 strips and put in R-02, R-09, and R-11 to give the individual glows during the scene.

Mini strips in R83 R26 and R90 High SL and SR as well as footlights. I lit much of the show playing with the physics of mixed color either on it's own or to shift the tone of the world.
I also used R80 in one backlight system and the X24 with Chad's "Scotch on the Rocks" Recipe
