The grass and dirt were created by spraying tinted Jaxsan over carved foam then adhering on tinted sawdust with Flexbond and Crystal Gel. From there we used more Crystel Gel to secure bits of craft moss and tinted cork. The grass had to be able to be walked upon as well as travel to another theatre after our run.

The exterior walls were created by using a wash of Raw Umber to dirty the wood planks initially and then using a layer Elmer's glue underneath scenic paint to create the cracks. The whole unit was then distressed with "dirt" washes.

After painting a white base I went in to add 4x4 squares with a black marker. I then smudge around a watered down brown to make dirt and added white over it to make areas pop. After I added shadowing to the bottom and left of each tile and highlights to the top and the right. Last step was adding a glossy to give it a bathroom shine. This made bathroom tiles.

These examples are from a painting workshop lead by Jenny Knott at Solano College. The class painted color wheels learning about the 6 primary colors in ROSCO paint. Next they learned about how far to thin paint and still have color.Lastly the students applied the process by painting a panel. 2nd day the class learned about the ROSCO Texture products then had a hands on lab working with each. There is a class shot during the texture workshop and some foam rocks/bricks made by using foam coat.

Carved foam shield, with added texture and aging. Foam was carved then coated with white tough prime. Then a base coat of sandstone tan was added. A dripped age effect of a few different browns was then layered on.
